The History of The Bus Center

A Community Pillar

1972: Our Beginning

The Bus Center was founded by George Law in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, originally as Blue Bird of Tennessee, the state’s first Blue Bird school-bus dealer.

1989: Our First Expansion

Opened Transportation South, Inc. near Birmingham, Alabama, beginning with 12 employees and six full-service bays.

2003: Our Shift in Focus

The company rebranded to align with a new partnership representing Thomas Built Buses and shifted focus toward commercial and shuttle buses.

2015: Our Second Expansion

Established The Bus Center – Atlanta in Acworth, Georgia.

2024: Our Merger with Hoekstra Transportation

Hoekstra Companies acquires a majority stake in The Bus Center and merges Hoekstra Transportation into the brand.

Present: Our Future & Promise to You
